Integrated Design Environments

Improves our Travel Experience

Whether the product is an airline or train, a pleasure boat, an automobile or even an executive jet, the appearance of the interior of the vehicle is of great importance. A major selling point of the Boeing 777 was the radical design of the overhead storage bins that enables passengers to stow away more baggage of all sizes more easily. The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner will have significantly larger windows than previous aircraft to provide more light and a better view.

Dassault Systèmes provides industrial designers with CATIA Imagine and Shape, a dedicated industrial design solution integrated within the CATIA V5 environment, a standard in the automotive and aerospace industry. Once the designer has developed a new concept, Virtools solutions enable attractive material finishes to be selected and displayed as a virtual environment that the passenger or customer can walk around. Even the terrain outside the window and the video on the multi-media entertainment screen can be simulated and viewed.
Passenger comfort is more than ever a key selling point for all types of transport. Cabin designers need to combine style, ergonomics and function while ensuring the safety of the passengers. Industrial designers, human factors engineers and mechanical designers are now able to collaborate on the Dassault Systèmes PLM platform to achieve highly innovative solutions while increasing part re-use and standardization
Virtools lets you take the travel experience to the customer, in an office or on the Internet. It also allows the customer to compare different layouts, materials and accessories when selecting his or her Dassault Falcon Jet or Renault car

Great design in a vehicle must be comfortable, functional and easy to use. CATIA V5 enables the mechanical engineer to work directly on the design prepared by the designer to develop increasingly innovative mechanisms. In the car seat production industry, Faurecia partnered with Ford to develop the Ford Foldflat System for the new Galaxy and the ground-breaking S-Max which has been named Car of the Year 2007. Faurecia combines comfort for 5-rear seat passengers with an easy-to-use, one lever folding system for the rearmost seats which disappear into the floor of the vehicle. The combination of design and ergonomics made possible by integrated design environments has lead to increased levels of comfort in the space available in an automobile.

Interior designers need to design for economic manufacture as well as for passenger comfort. The challenge in both automobiles and aircraft is to adapt standard designs to different interior dimensions.

Finally, the strength and crash resistant properties of the vehicle interior can be analyzed with SIMULIA. Different structural designs and material choices can be explored to achieve the performance required for certification while minimizing weight.

ENOVIA enables all the documentation required by the Certifying Authority to be prepared, collated, approved and submitted. Companies are leading the way towards certification based on three dimensional modeling without the additional cost, complexity and delays associated with two-dimensional drawings.

Dassault Systèmes PLM solutions helps customers in all industries provide travelers with a more pleasant experience while reducing costs and increasing profitability
