| EDS Technologies Pvt.
Ltd with its headquarters in Bangalore, today announced
a tie-up with ICEM,
a Dassault Systèmes company, to enhance its PLM
portfolio with “ICEM Shape Design” solutions,
to address the shape design and styling market. This
association will help EDS Technologies to extend its
CATIA leadership to the broad and highly diversified
styling communities.
Richard Brown, Regional Business Development Manager
at ICEM stated that, “This appointment is part
of our overall strategy for extending ICEM's reach further
into our traditional areas of automotive concept development
and Class A surfacing as well as integrating ICEM Shape
Design into our customers' PLM processes. We were looking
for a partner that could complement our understanding
of the complex workflows within the automotive industry
and offers the high quality technical and customer support
we demand. EDS Technologies matches that requirement
perfectly”.
“ICEM Shape Design” software suite offers
highly intuitive tools to easily create, validate and
modify any type of surfaces, from freeform surfaces
to mechanical shapes. Its extensive set of functionalities,
with high quality rendering, will bring virtual creation
to reality. “ICEM Shape Design” provides
breakthrough technology enabling users to produce world-class
aesthetic products. Acknowledged as the premier system
for the creation and development of Class A surfaces,
ICEM products bridge the demands of aesthetic designers
and production engineers from visualization, right up
to tool and die designers.
The “ICEM Shape Design” software suite,
based on Dassault Systèmes CAA V5 architecture
is a fully integrated component of a PLM system environment.
As a result, a seamless workflow of design data is created
from initial surface model to final design approval,
whilst allowing visibility to all associated manufacturing
functions. Additionally, “ICEM Shape Design”
comprehensively addresses the needs of customers who
require a standalone solution for shape and surface
development. Aesthetics and design quality create emotions
and are key contributors to product success and brand
recognition.
“The automotive industry has spearheaded putting
aesthetics at the heart of the engineering process.
One of the most critical steps is the ‘Class A
Surface' process, which creates perfect surfaces from
styling sketches. With ICEM's unique set of technologies
and expertise in this domain combined with EDST's recognized
leadership in 3D and PLM, customers will benefit from
a new level of integrated process performance from styling
concepts to final shape”, said S Senthil, President,
