formation. Using high end solutions like SolidCast,
FlowCast and OptiCast one can import 3D models from
any platform and it helps to optimize the risers required,
where they should be placed, what size they should be,
and what size and shape to use for sprues, runners and
gates. Using this information, the foundrymen can fine-tune
their design to produce the best casting possible, at
the lowest cost. They can even have the system automatically
redesign the process, using optimization techniques
to search for the design which gives the optimum in
quality and yield.
