| What is myV5? |
| |
myV5 is a very easy way of managing different customer-specific CATIA V5 versions, licenses and additional products via a common graphical user interface for all platforms. This easy-to-configure user management system allows the control of access rights up to the specification of different license environments, depending the customer and user.
myV5 is a starter tool developed especially to start CATIA V5 in conjunction with add-ons (or without them), but also other applications (executable files). It can also be used to select between different license configurations. The myV5 window allows to predefine a complete working environment which can contain all applications the user needs for his daily work. Once the complete environment is defined, all selected applications every time can be started simply by pressing the myV5 start button.

In generally, if users have to administrate on their computer several CATIA V5 environments for different customers or different usages, the number of icons on the desktop gradually will increase so that at a certain moment it will be difficult to find the required icon.
With the help of myV5 this situation can be avoided.
The traditional way of using environments requires for every application–add-on–combination a separate environment. For instance, when working with CATIA and the TransCAT CATIA add-ons Q-CHECKER and VDAFS PROCESSOR, the user should create four environments—one to start CATIA alone, one to start CATIA with Q-CHECKER, one to start CATIA with VDAFS PROCESSOR and, finally, to start CATIA with Q-CHECKER and VDAFS PROCESSOR.
The myV5 tool combines flexibly several individual environment files into a single environment file. This means that application and add-ons included in the assembled environment quickly and easily can be changed in the myV5 window according to the current requirements. Once the selection in the myV5 window is done, pressing the myV5 start button is enough to start the selected application. This selection is saved when pressing the start button so that it will be available when starting myV5 again. |
