Creating
a high quality CAD model is not only one of the
most time consuming and costly part of the new product
development process but it is also most critical.
Companies rely on these models to create the products
that are the lifeblood of their business. Given
the complexity of modern design, as well as the
many powerful technologies used in this process
and the pressures of getting new products to market,
it is not surprising that errors occur regularly
in new models. Q Checker
is a management system for product data quality.
It allows defining sets of checks and rules (so
called check profiles), which assure that a CATIA
model meets all the specifications and requirements,
which are necessary in the usage of the following
processes. Q Checker is designed as an easy to use
tool for the daily work of a designer. Q- Checker
has currently nearly 300 checks and rules, lots
of them with automatically healing functionality.
Q-checker is available for all CATIA V5/V4 platforms. |

Q monitor |

| Q-Monitor
is a tool for CAD model quality assurance with a scope
of operation not limited to a single project or a single
company. Its report results can be used to determine where
targeted action for better model quality should be taken.
Q-Monitor operates in conjunction with Q-Checker. To name
only some of the ways Q-Monitor reports can be used, they
make visible the evolution of model quality over a period
of time, provide a quality status survey of all models
included in a project at a fixed point in time, or allow
determination of the general faults that occur most often.

Q-PLM |

| Q-PLM is a
new extension of the Q-Checker solution. Q-Checker can
be integrated by automatic batch mode into important process
steps. In addition to routine checks by designers, the
data exchanged between OEMs and suppliers is monitored.
In connection with release procedures in PDM, a review
of the models is also worthwhile. Q-PLM provides –
as an extension of the Q-Checker solution – standard
components that facilitate a rapid and stable integration
into the PLM environment. |
