Offering Terra Vista on Microsoft Windows Cluster Server Platform
PRESAGIS, a leading provider of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) modeling, simulation and embedded display graphics software for the aerospace and defense industry, announced that it is collaborating closely with Microsoft to deliver high-performance computing (HPC) solutions for the modeling and simulation industry. Reinforcing its market leading position and commitment to innovation, PRESAGIS will develop, test and optimize its upcoming Terra Vista 6.0 release on Microsoft's Windows Compute Cluster Server (WCCS) 2003. The interoperable solution will support the development of simulation systems in a high-performance computing environment that leverages the power of 64-bit computing and the Windows Compute Cluster Server operating system.
"As demands on engineers and researchers continue to grow, they increasingly turn to high performance clusters to improve their productivity," said Shawn Hansen, Director of HPC Marketing, Server and Tools, Microsoft Corporation. "By working with PRESAGIS on the Windows platform, users can fully leverage the power of multi-core technology to scale mission-critical simulations."
The complexity of simulations has expanded the demand for computing architectures that support collaborative production and training environments. As more data is incorporated into scenarios, the need for multi-core processing architectures becomes integral to protect the fidelity and frame-rate of the simulation. According to IT research firm IDC, the high-performance and technical computing (HPTC) market is growing annually by nine per cent and will reach an expected $14.3 billion by 2010. Together, PRESAGIS and Microsoft will create an interoperable solution for the simulation industry, beginning with the industry's premium terrain generation software, Terra Vista version 6.0, expected to release in mid-2008. "We are thrilled to be working with Microsoft to ensure PRESAGIS COTS software customers can benefit and leverage an affordable HPC solution in the development of their modeling and simulation applications," said Patrice Commune, President, PRESAGIS. "This collaboration delivers an easy, low cost way to develop and deploy complex modeling and simulation applications by combining the value and familiarity of COTS software with the power and scalability of cluster-based computing."
Designed to run high-performance applications, Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server provides a platform that is simple to deploy, operate, and integrate with existing infrastructure, development tools and mixed cluster environments. When combined with the PRESAGIS COTS software solution, users can develop visually rich, interactive simulations involving vast quantities of data without losing the integrity of the simulation. The solution provides users with a central point to configure control and monitor each multi-tenant node. The ability to automatically update the system capabilities will significantly streamline day-to-day operations. The Terra Vista 6.0 solution will also support the Microsoft Windows Standard Server 2003 (32 and 64 bit) and Microsoft Windows XP Pro (32 and 64 bit) operating systems.
EDS Technologies along with PRESAGIS hosts the 3rd Technology Seminar on 3D Modeling and Visual Simulation in Bangalore on the 12th of Dec'07. This is the only seminar held annually dedicated to the aerospace and defense establishments in India.
