CATIA: Exciting new Features that Reduce Design Time

In CATIA, Dassault Systèmes reinforces its leadership in modeling technology by introducing new functional modeling capabilities that enable aerospace engineers be more productive when designing and modifying complex aero structures. A new breakthrough “auto-draft” capability increases the productivity of automotive powertrain and chassis designers thereby reducing the detail design time of cast and forged parts. The creation of draft surfaces is dramatically shortened since they are computed in a single operation. Improvements have been made in Electrical Harness Design where users, very early in the design process, can integrate manufacturing behaviors as well as create, in 3D, electrical cables that respect safety regulations. This significantly improves the quality of the designs. V5R18 delivers high precision composite analysis capabilities avoiding the need to “over-dimension” composite parts.

ENOVIA: Synergy Produces Benefits Across the World

Companies can deploy a unified business process since ENOVIA VPLM engineering users and ENOVIA MatrixOne users can now mutually benefit from the power of ENOVIA MatrixOne’s collaborative business processes and ENOVIA VPLM’s management of complex engineering activities. Companies can link their program management to VPLM deliverables, can synchronize configurations and BOMs between engineering and enterprise users, and can unify change management across departments. ENOVIA VPM Navigator provides designers with all the essential product life cycle operations from within their CATIA V5 environment, thus increasing efficiency and productivity. V5R18 also improves on-line collaboration by extending the reach of 3DLive to ENOVIA MatrixOne and ENOVIA SmarTeam. An important milestone in V5R18 is the fact that ENOVIA MatrixOne Designer Central for CATIA V5 provides a multi-site CATIA V5 design data management solution for companies that design products with CATIA and manage their collaborative business processes with ENOVIA MatrixOne.

Optimize the Design Environment with CATIA VPLM PowerPack

It is a new prepackaged offering from ENOVIA that contains everything required to optimize the design environment for mechanical design, configured DMU, relational design and design in context. In doing so, design teams will fully utilize CATIA V5 thereby increasing the return on total investment. Targeted users for CATIA VPLM PowerPack are OEM and Tier1 suppliers for the automotive, aerospace, shipbuilding, industrial equipment industries. The benefits include reduced implementation risk, faster adoption of V5 design practices and shorter payback on CATIA and VPLM investment.

The Business Process Accelerators in CATIA VPLM PowerPack consist of 15 fundamental building blocks, which ensure the best utilization of VPLM in a CATIA V5 environment. In addition to these building blocks, one has the possibility to either extend the standard PowerPack offering by adding additional BPAs, like PED or PLM Engineering Desktop, or to customize any individual building block to address specific product design needs.

Customers who would like to purchase CATIA VPLM PowerPack will benefit from a preconfigured bundle, which is based on CATIA MD2 or HD2, each accompanied by ENOVIA VPLM. Customers who already have CATIA can purchase only the ENOVIA VPLM components. They can also add 3DLive to the CATIA VPLM PowerPack offering to extend the use of this solution to users without CATIA. Digital Product Rights Management for IP protection

Customers will benefit from increased data protection in V5R18 when sharing V5 documents thanks to Digital Product Rights Management based on Microsoft’s DRM technology. Administrators can apply a corporate policy to CATIA data by user. Dassault Systèmes’ open V5 SOA (service oriented architecture) is illustrated by the availability of over 450 applications developed by 160 partners.
