Vortex: Now Easier to Integrate than Ever

New HLA interoperability: Vortex ground vehicle simulation solutions now instantly plug into a wide range of aerospace & defense simulations via the HLA Evolved standard.

Three leading simulation technology companies have teamed up to add HLA capability to Vortex Dynamics vehicle simulations.

Pitch Technologies, ForwardSim, and Vortex developer CM Labs have combined their expertise to assure Vortex interoperability via the HLA Evolved standard, as well as previous HLA versions (HLA 1.3, HLA 1516-2000).

This new HLA capability combines the technical expertise of CM Labs and ForwardSim with Pitch technology. Pitch provides the world’s leading HLA Runtime Infrastructure for the open, international IEEE 1516 standard. It is now in use by thousands of customers in major high-tech companies all over the world.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Vortex to the HLA Evolved family,” says Björn Möller, Pitch Vice President and co-founder. “In many respects, this is a true meeting of the minds.”

Users can now deploy Vortex’s out-of-the-box HLA capabilities toward instant integration with existing simulations/federations, or extend the HLA module for new federations and customized simulation solutions.

Automation of HLA functionality through the Vortex Editor—including data conversion and environment configuration—minimize implementation risk and effort, and bring the robust performance of Vortex’s high-fidelity physics models to your HLA federation. You can also add HLA capability to existing Vortex models in no time.

Full Support for Joint and Combined Training

Users can now deploy Vortex in local or distributed training networks, with full support for joint and combined training scenarios.

Vortex’s HLA interoperability provides compatibility with run-time infrastructures (RTIs) from all leading vendors (Pitch, VT MAK, Raytheon-VTC), as well as the new NATO Training and Education Network architecture. Vortex is also compatible with the widely supported Real-time Platform Reference Federation Object Model (RPR FOM), and is completely FOMagile.

Standards-based interoperability is the most recent milestone on CM Labs’ aggressive development roadmap toward long-term standards-compliant architecture. ForwardSim is a leading developer of technical computing software. Over the years, the company has developed deep knowledge and an efficient technology for facilitating COTS software integration in HLA
federations. Renowned for its success with the HLA Toolbox for MATLAB and Simulink, ForwardSim has supported a number of successful projects, at the same time refining its leading HLA technology.

Pitch provides a wide range of compatible products such as Pitch Recorder (data logger), Pitch Commander (monitor and control federations), Pitch Booster (wide area network support), and Pitch DIS Adapter.

CM Labs provides dynamics-based vehicle and robotics simulation solutions and services to organizations around the world. With a long history in the real-time visual-simulation and gaming industries, CM Labs produces feature-rich simulation capabilities that set the industry standard for interactive 3D dynamics and simulated mechanical equipment behavior.

Through Vortex, its flagship simulation software, CM Labs
provides capabilities for training simulators, mission rehearsal, serious games, virtual prototyping, and testing.

Vortex customers include Cassidian, CAE, Honda, Elbit Systems, L-3, Lockheed Martin, NASA, RUAG, and over 100 other leading
organizations.

Pitch Technologies (Pitch) is a leading provider of innovative state of-the-art interoperability products, services and solutions for development of distributed systems. Its products and solutions are used by some of the largest and most complex simulation programs
in government and industry around the world.

Pitch plays an active role in the modeling and simulation community. It is heavily involved in development of interoperability standards like the High Level Architecture, and is currently part of the core technical and management team tasked to develop the next generation of the HLA standard, called HLA
Evolved.

Pitch is also a sponsor and active member of the Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO).

Using industry standards and hands-on experience, ForwardSim creates first-class products allowing customers to be more efficient by providing them with a complete and simplified simulation experience.

Founded in 2005, ForwardSim offers a range of innovative tools and specialized consulting services, as well as customized training. It aims to facilitate the implementation of simulation processes, and to maximize its benefits. The company offers its own product line consisting of three main tools based on industry trends: HLA Toolbox™ for MATLAB, HLA Blockset™ for Simulink, and its powerful crowd simulator CrowdWays.

ForwardSim customers include BAE systems, NUWC, Canadian DND, Mitsubishi, Thales, Roke UK, SELEX Galileo, DCNS France, and many more technology-focused organizations.
