VT MAK is pleased to announce a new software product release

Dear MÄK Customer,

VT MÄK is pleased to announce the release of VR-Forces 4.1.1.

VR-Forces 4.1.1 is a maintenance release that adds several new features, as well as addressing a number of defects found in VR-Forces version 4.1. This release adds support for Microsoft Visual C++10 - 32-bit.

Some of the new features found in this release include:

Models

Ballistic Missiles - You can now add ballistic missiles to your VR-Forces scenarios. This feature allows you to specify a target, heading, launch time, and ballistic trajectory that your missile will follow. Your missile can have multiple stages, with the full trajectory of each stage being simulated. Besides using the built-in simple trajectories, you can add your own using CSV files. This allows you to import the complex (and often classified) movement characteristics of today’s advanced ballistic missiles from an external model (like MATLAB) to allow high fidelity simulation in VR-Forces.

Lua Exectool Library – If you've taken advantage of our new Lua scripting language to add powerful behaviors to your entities, we've added a new library that allows you to write even more robust scripts with less work.

Absolute Timestamping – VR-Forces now supports absolute time stamping for high fidelity exercises where a precise location is imperative and clocks are fully synchronized.

Terrain

TerraPage (TXP) Terrain Database Support – As part of our commitment to make MÄK software terrain agile, we have added native TerraPage support to VR-Forces. Customers with TerraPage databases can now simulate directly on their terrain without first converting it to another format.

ECW (Enhanced Compression Wavelet) Imagery Support – If you have large ECW files for your imagery, you can now directly load them into VR-Forces without first converting to GeoTIFF.

Ease of Use

Keyboard Shortcuts – The full set of VR-Forces actions can now be accessed through configurable keyboard shortcuts.

Selection Groups – If you are always working with various sets of entities, you can now add them to a selection group. Once in a selection group, you can issue commands and set properties on the group instead of the individual entities it contains.

Zoom to Extents – You can now zoom to the extents of a terrain, an entity, or a group of entities.

Rotate Icons to Heading – In the PVD, you can now configure your icons to align with the object’s heading.

Saved Observer Views – Observer views can now be saved with the scenario. You can mark important view angles and attachments in your scenario, and then toggle quickly through them the next time your scenario reloads.

For a complete list of new features, as well as information on bug fixes and other small changes, please see the Release Notes:

We have added many new features to this release and in keeping with our maintenance release policy, these features were additions to our API, and not modifications. As a result, we expect the upgrade process from VR-Forces 4.1 to this version to be painless and simple. Customers already using VR-Forces 4.1 should be able to just upgrade their install and recompile to quickly take advantage of the new features.
